The book Because of Winn-Dixie's purpose is to entertain you. The genre is just real life. In this story the main characters are India Opal(just call her Opal), Winn-Dixie, the preacher which is Opals dad, Miss Fanny, Gloria Dump, and Otis. The plot of the story is a little girl who moves to a new house and all she wants is friends. Then she goes to the store one day and finds a dog. With her dog she finds a lot of older friends. The theme of the story is to show you that if you're nice you will receive nice friends. At the beggining of the book Opal is a lonely little girl and throughout the story she makes more friends. This story takes place during 1900's and happens in Naomi.
