A walk to remember is set in Beaufort, North Carolina 1958. The author’s purpose is to entertain. When a prank on a student goes wrong and puts him in the hospital Landon Carter, a popular student, is held responsible. Part of his punishment includes being the lead role in the school play. Also starring in the play is Jamie Sullivan who is the reverends daughter. When Landon wants to start taking things seriously he goes to Jamie for help. When he starts to spend most of his time with her he starts to have feelings for her something he did not expect. The start a relationship but when a heart-breaking secret is revealed it puts their relationship to the test making them realize the true meaning of love.
