The characters are Johnny, Dally, Soda, Pony-boy, Darry, Two-Bit, and Steve. The authors purpose is don't get into gangs or fight because bad things will happen. The setting is in the late 90's in Georgia. The genre would be action. The only character development is Pony-boy becoming very violent, then is humbled by his brothers. The plot starts out they are all barely getting by because of Soda and his good, positive, funny attitude. Then one night Soda, Pony-boy, and Darry go to the movie with the socs girls. The boyfriends get mad and try to get back at the boys. so one night they corner Pony-boy and Johnny and try to hurt them, Johny panics and kills one of them. One of the gang members hides them and they hide for most of the story. Until the hiding spot burns down. Johnny and Darry die in the end. Very good book!
